Snubbing unit is a hydraulic powered equipment system that is commonly used for work "well-intervention" & "workover".

Its function is the same as a conventional workover rig, which is a tool for well-intervention (doing a job into an existing well).

Unlike the conventional rig where the inlet pipe is lifted by pulley & steel cables combined with the gravity of the pipe, then snubbing the unit, tubing or pipe is inserted & removed to & from the wellbore by means of being pushed / pressed or pulled using hydraulic power.

The main advantages, work pipes (work strings) do not have to be heavy, can be small in size & can reach highly deviated wells. Another advantage, the work can be done relatively quickly & the mob-demob is even shorter.
